Lent and Beyond
The Spiritual Nurture Committee is pleased to present a reprise and extension of our Advent spiritual practices seminar.
February 11th and 18th
9:15—10:15am in the Bishop Katharine Lounge
The program
The first session (February 11) will review two important spiritual practices. Participants will be guided through both practices by experienced practitioners.
- Silent Meditation (also known as “Centering Prayer” or “sitting still, doing nothing”) is a practice common to many world religions, including Christianity
- Lectio Divina (“Divine Reading” or “listening with the ear of the heart”) is also an ancient practice, dating at least to the time of Saint Benedict
The second session (February 18) will offer a moderated opportunity for participants to hear about the spiritual experiences of others, as well as to share their own experiences – although active participation is not required.
Finally, we’ll try to identify how our parish in general, and our Spiritual Nurture Committee in particular, can support fellow seekers along the spiritual way.
