Designated Offering: Corvallis Daytime Drop-in Center

Designated Offering

Corvallis Daytime Drop-in Center (CDDC)

Each month, we designate a particular social service organization for financial support through special collections on Sundays. This April, our special offering goes to the CDDC.

CDDC serves as a central information, service and navigation point and resilience center for those who are homeless or in poverty. More than 1000 distinct people per year make use of the Center, whose motto is “Where needs are met.” CDDC helps with applications for housing, assistance and financial support for basic needs.

The Street Outreach Team (SORT) visits people at encampments around the city, bringing food and hygiene supplies. These visits remind them that they matter and provide connections to needed services.

In addition, services at the Center include: visits from Samaritan’s health bus, Benton County dental clinic, Art Tuesdays (gallery art works are on exhibit there), haircuts every other Tuesday and legal aid help. And, a hot cup of coffee or tea and some snacks are always on hand.

Exciting things are happening at CDDC as they have recently purchased and moved to a larger location, just across the street from the former location. Part of the building is rented out by CHANCE and Corvallis Housing First to create a non-profit collaborative. This income also helps pay the mortgage on the new building. CDDC is helping, with the previously mentioned partners, to establish a “Resilience Center” downtown with a variety of social services available on site and accessible with the lowest-barrier ways possible.
