Volunteer Opportunities
Get Involved
Volunteers are central to the Good Samaritan Church. Whether you are a newcomer or seasoned member of Good Sam, there are many opportunities to use your skills and experience to serve our community and build relationships.
Worship Ministries

Acolytes
An acolyte is an assistant at the altar. Tasks include carrying the cross and aiding at the altar

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild works behind the scenes to set up for all services. This includes care for vestments, the silver, the crystal, the brass, the candles, and more.

Coffee Hour
The Coffee Hour team is a vital hospitality ministry providing tea, coffee, and snacks to members and newcomers before church.

Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers administer the chalice during the Holy Communion. To get started, we provide several training sessions and get approved by the Bishop for your license. You do not need to be ordained to serve in this ministry.

Flower Guild
Help decorate our altar with flowers. The Flower Guild also regularly delivers bouquets to people in the church community who are celebrating or are in need of care.

Lectors
Lectors share readings from the scripture during services.

Ushers
Radical hospitality is part of the Good Samaritan mission, and our ushers are at the heart of it. Welcome people and pass out bulletins.
Church Support

Buildings and Grounds
Get together to care for the church and keep the property in good shape. If you’re handy with a tool (or you’d like to be), consider joining the Buildings and Grounds team.

Office Volunteer
Welcome visitors, answer the phone, and assist our office manager with other administrative tasks during our office hours.
